Smorgasbord - A Food Themed International Mail Art Exhibition

Inspired in part by the history of Lodger's current location, Holsum Studios, which was originally Holsum Foods, Smorgasbord includes 70 small-format, multimedia entries prompted by an open call for food-themed mail art. Entries were sent from California, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin, as well as from Belarus, Canada, France, Germany, Latvia, and Mexico.

Whether breakfast, brunch, lunch, snacks or dinner, these entries range from the illustrative to the abstract, from absurdly humorous cartoons to serious commentaries on consumption; from the organic, farm-grown to the over-processed and utterly grotesque. Undercooked, overcooked, and half-baked; fresh and fermented - this is an all-you-can-eat buffet. Soup to nuts. It's a true feast for the eyes.
